Project Management
- Created and led student travel programs; planned and managed budget for all program expense; trips included five intensive week-long trips field trips to Belize with 24 students, with a subsequent trip canceled due to Covid-19, and a two-week long field trip the American Southwest; Belize trips involved working with the top-rated tourism company in central Belize and included overnight jungle hikes, living with a local fisherman’s family on their small island, and arranging for charitable donations to local elementary schools; the Southwest trip introduced students to numerous sites of historical, archaeological, and environmental significance within four states on the Colorado Plateau.
- As Faculty President, chaired successful process of comprehensive revision and approval of Adrian College System of Governance, leading a multi-disciplinary team of colleagues and administration representatives; first comprehensive revision in College history and the first completed attempt after three prior incomplete efforts in the previous seven years.
- As Faculty President successfully implemented a new course block schedule that relieved greater than 100% classroom demand at peak time-slots and generated more efficient use of classrooms throughout the day.
- Successfully sought funding for and organized a symposium on the tragedy of the commons featuring twelve renowned scholars, including future Economics Nobel Prize winner Elinor Ostrom, and an audience of nearly eighty scholars from several dozen institutions.
- As Curriculum Committee Chair during mandated transition from four-credit hour to three-credit hour courses managed a record number of course and program design proposals; negotiated with academic departments to correct errors and ensure overall academic policy compliance prior to formal review; organized and prioritized over 400 proposals by date of required implementation to ensure timely approvals.
- Co-founded and directed Adrian College’s Ribbons of Excellence Day, a day of student research presentations in an academic conference format; as director was responsible for calling for proposals, leading committee review of proposals, calling for moderators and judges, and scheduling all presentations, moderators, and judges.
Methodological Expertise:
- Instructional systems design; have designed, implemented, and assessed numerous college courses.
- Survey writing and analysis; have designed and constructed surveys for Adrian Public Schools, the Adrian College Association of Professors, and the Adrian College Institute for Ethics.
- Curriculum development; strengthened political science curriculum at Adrian College and chaired Curriculum Committee.
